How to Split the Bill at Filipino Restaurants

Splitting the bill β€” or "hatian" β€” is a common practice when dining out with friends, family, or workmates in the Philippines. Whether you're at Jollibee, a samgyupsal place, or a fine dining restaurant, this free calculator makes it easy to figure out who pays what.

Most sit-down restaurants in the Philippines add a 10% service charge and 12% VAT to your bill. Fast food chains like Jollibee, McDonald's, and Chowking already include VAT in their menu prices. Use the "Quick SC + VAT" button above to auto-apply both.

Two Ways to Split

🀝 Equal Split

The simplest method: divide the total bill (including extras) equally among everyone. Perfect for shared platters, samgyupsal, or buffets where everyone eats the same food.

🍽️ Split by Item (KKB Style)

KKB (Kanya-Kanyang Bayad) means each person pays for what they ordered. Add each item from the receipt and assign it to whoever ordered it. Shared items can be assigned to multiple people β€” the cost is split evenly among them. Service charge, VAT, and tips are distributed proportionally.

Save Arguments, Share Results

No more awkward "who owes who?" at the end of dinner. Simply:

  1. Add everyone in your group
  2. Enter each item from the receipt
  3. Choose equal split or assign items to specific people
  4. Add service charge + VAT if applicable
  5. Screenshot the "Who Pays What" summary and send to your group chat

Pro tip: Use GCash or Maya to send exact amounts. No more "I'll pay you back later" that never happens. πŸ˜„
